Visiting Trinity PCA
What to Expect:
Worship
Trinity PCA offers a traditional Reformed worship service that follows a structured, reverent pattern focused on God’s Word and the congregation’s response. Here’s what visitors can generally expect:
The Overall Atmosphere
The service emphasizes simplicity and substance over entertainment. You’ll find a thoughtful, orderly progression with minimal theatrical elements. The congregation participates actively through singing, responsive readings, and corporate prayer.
The Elements of Worship
The service opens with a call to worship, drawn from Scripture, followed by hymns or psalms.
You’ll encounter substantial Scripture reading. The sermon is the centerpiece of the service, lasting 30-45 minutes, with verse-by-verse exposition of biblical texts. The preaching aims to be doctrinally rich and practically applicable.
Corporate prayer features prominently, including confession of sin, assurance of pardon, confession of faith (like the Apostles’ Creed), intercession, and thanksgiving.
The Sacraments
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated monthly on the first Sunday of each month in morning worship, and the third Sunday of each month in evening worship. Baptism occurs as needed.
What to Wear and Do
Dress varies between casual and Sunday best, though this varies from person to person. Our worship services value theological depth, congregational participation, and God-centeredness over emotional appeal or entertainment value.
During morning worship, our pastors wear black robes called “Geneva Gowns”. This is a traditional, academic robe, worn by pastors in the Reformed tradition to draw attention away from the minister himself, help the congregation to recognize the pastor’s primary calling as a teacher of God’s Word, and to remind us all of the reverence of worship and the priority of the preached Word.
Nursery
We are pleased to offer a nursery during our morning worship service for children ages 0-4.
Our nursery is staffed with background-checked volunteers and is a safe and welcoming environment for your children.
If your child has been ill in the last 24 hours before the worship gathering, we ask that you please refrain from leaving them in the nursery.
In addition to our nursery, we are pleased to offer a nursing room in the upstairs balcony. Please see an usher for more details.
Sunday School
We currently offer Sunday School classes for most ages each Sunday at 10:45-11:30, with refreshments offered weekly during our fellowship time in between morning worship and Sunday School.
The Adult Sunday School class meets in the Beck Fellowship Hall and is currently working through a series on The Book of Ephesians.
Children and youth are dismissed from Beck Fellowship Hall to the following classes on Sunday morning: Pre-K – Kindergarten, 1st-3rd, 4th-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th.
